Moving to Mount Juliet, TN: 10 Things You Should Know Before You Go.

1. Mount Juliet is rapidly growing.

Mount Juliet has become one of Tennessee's fastest-growing cities, with its population increasing by 28,870 between 2000 and 2023. By 2023, the city's population had reached 42,912, marking a significant surge. This rapid growth has led to challenges, including increased traffic and extensive construction, but the city is actively addressing these issues. Thanks to this population boom, Mount Juliet is set to receive a significant boost in federal funding following a special census confirming the residents' rise.

2. Mount Juliet's proximity to Nashville.

One of Mount Juliet's biggest attractions is its convenient location near Nashville. Just 25 to 35 miles from downtown and the airport, it's perfect for commuters or anyone who enjoys the benefits of city life without living in the heart of it. It's an ideal spot for families settling in the suburbs while still being close enough to enjoy Nashville's nightlife and urban amenities.

3. Mount Juliet has plenty of outdoor recreation.

Mount Juliet might be right up your alley if you love the outdoors. Mount Juliet earned the nickname "The City Between Two Lakes" due to its unique location nestled between two major bodies of water: Percy Priest Lake to the south and Old Hickory Lake to the north. Both lakes are man-made reservoirs created by damming rivers in the region—Percy Priest Lake by the Stones River and Old Hickory Lake by the Cumberland River.

We've had clients that were having a hard time leaving california because they just can't leave the beach! If that is you, then Mount Juliet might be an excellent option for you. I know it's not the ocean, but if you give lake living a try, you might not even miss the beach!

Besides lakes, Mount Juliet also has several parks, walking trails, and campgrounds:

Long Hunter State Park: Located along the shores of Percy Priest Lake, this park offers hiking trails, including the popular Day Loop Trail, and a range of activities like birdwatching, camping, and fishing. It's a great spot for both short day trips and longer adventures.

Charlie Daniels Park: This community park provides a variety of outdoor amenities, including playgrounds, tennis courts, walking trails, and picnic areas. It also hosts local events and activities throughout the year.

In August of this year, 2024, the median home price was $600,450. I know this may seem high for some, so I did a little research and found 23 homes on the market in the $350k-$400k range. 9. Mount Juliet weather.

Mount Juliet has hot, humid summers and mild winters like the rest of Middle Tennessee. Severe storms and tornado risks can also be part of living here. Like much of Middle Tennessee, Mount Juliet is part of what is known as "Dixie Alley," an area prone to severe weather, including tornadoes. While tornadoes are not an everyday occurrence, the region has experienced several significant tornado events over the years.

Tornadoes are most likely to occur in the spring (March through May) and late fall (November). However, tornadoes can happen at any time of the year in Middle Tennessee, particularly during periods of severe thunderstorms.

While Mount Juliet does not experience tornadoes every year, the area is susceptible to them during peak storm seasons. On average, Middle Tennessee experiences several tornadoes each year, though not all directly impact Mount Juliet. The city typically faces the risk of severe thunderstorms that can produce tornadoes, along with damaging winds and hail.

Due to the risk, Mount Juliet and the surrounding areas emphasize storm preparedness. Many homes and businesses are equipped with storm shelters or safe rooms, and local emergency services provide early warning systems through sirens, weather alerts, and mobile apps.

While tornadoes are not constant, the risk in Mount Juliet is something residents should remain aware of, especially during peak tornado seasons. Being prepared and informed is key to staying safe.
